Showing off Expos to a friend or co-worker who uses a PC is more than a blast, its your duty, because even Windows XP still has nothing like it. But if you really want to be a major hambone, before you press F9 to invoke Expos, start a QuickTime movie clip, have a DVD playing, or have iTunes playing a song and click on the Visualizer (heck, have all three going at once).

When you press F9, the QuickTime clip (DVD, iTunes, etc.) keeps playing even when miniaturized. Its fun to watch their face as it changes from Cool! To Why doesnt Windows have that? But I just 'invoked' it like you said using the F9 button. Ok my windows shrunk a little and now they turn blue when I mouse over them. So the point of Expose is turn your windows blue? That is a neat feature, just not sure how useful it is. MuahMan wrote: 'Mojo' wrote in message news:windozesucks-64B5F7.2005@news.isp.giganews.com.

That would probably be because you are stupid. Let us say you have several open applications, each with several windows open. You want to find a specific window, without cycling through all the windows you have open.

Expose lets you do this. F9, mouse over the windows until you find the one you want (the OS conveniently gives you the title of each window), and click. There, you have the window you want in the foreground. Do you get it yet? I didn't think so. Dave Fritzinger Honolulu, HI. Great feature. It's like a long cut for ALT-TAB. Alt-Tab (actually, it's Command -Tab, but who's counting) works on the Mac too. Its just that Expose works SOOOOO much better.

Instead of cycling through, you go not just to the application you want but the 'pane' within that application that you want - instantly. Say you've got a news reader open. MT-Newswatch, for instance, gives you 4 panes, subscribed-to groups, the list of the group now open, the post you're reading, and the reply you're writing.

They are all on top of one another on most screens. But invoke Expose, and you get a thumbnail of all 4 and can click the 'pane' you want instantly. Alt-Tab on Windows won't do that with multiple panes in a single app, it just scrolls through open apps. Pratt, your 'long cut' becomes a REAL shortcut, real fast. In article, MartinKess@gmail.com wrote: I have six text documents open on my two monitors, please explain how I can select between them using Alt-Tab! Apple + tab.

Just keep pressing tab. That only works if all six documents are in DIFFERENT applications What if you have Photoshop open with 4 photos on screen, and InDesign open with three layouts? Use Command-Tab and that will shift you between Photoshop and InDesign all right, but it wont help you pick the document window you want at that moment once you are there. Expose will tile ALL the open panes AT ONCE as large thumbnails, allowing you to pick not only the application you want to bring foremost, but the document WITHIN that app to bring to the front. Its one more reason why the Mac is more productive than Windows, or, little things sometimes mean a lot.

For added fun, demonstrate Expose in slow-motion mode (hold shift) while playing back three 1080p DVCPRO HD clips on a 30' screen. This may require a dual processor G5 with a striped RAID.

At least, that's what I was using to taunt the Windows user with this particular demo. I believe the question was something along the lines of 'Why'd you tell them to get a Mac for video editing?

My MX700 has page up and page down buttons above and below the scroll wheel. Below the page down button is a little button with an icon of one window overlapping another. I think it's assigned to just cycle through apps in the default configuration, but it's perfect for Expose - both the placement and the icon. You think we all sit around and play with pictures and video all day. That's toy stuff. We use XP so we can be productive in the business world.

We'll leave the photoshop crap to to the pooptastic Apple software. Hitting F9 would slow me down as my fingers are already close to ALT-TAB. It's an atrocious long cut for people that play with pictures all day. I need to connect to Servers, run financial apps, list merges, etc.

That's the problem with you Mac Jihad. You think we all sit around and play with pictures and video all day. That's toy stuff. We use XP so we can be productive in the business world. We'll leave the photoshop crap to to the pooptastic Apple software. Hitting F9 would slow me down as my fingers are already close to ALT-TAB. Not toy stuff like you Maccies are doing. Why is it, then, that my Mac and I get called in to Windows-based client sites to make up for the low productivity - to get something done? I have no idea? Because people are lazy. I have no idea what your clients business is run like. I can't say I've ever been called into a Mac-based client site.

Never heard of one for starters. I don't doubt it. 1) Mac-based businesses don' need no stinkin' Windowsman.

2) Why would a Mac business call a PC user to their site? 3) if they know as much about you as we do, they wouldn't let you touch their cable TV box, much less their G5 towers being used in their business. They simply don't exist. Only one man Wedding Photographers use Macs.

I do know enough not to hire anyone that pulls out a mac. They can't take the slightest criticism, get overly defensive, and have problems admitting when they are wrong. I have a giant problem with that attitude in the workplace. Would crush team morale.

Somehow, I have trouble believing that you, who cannot even figure out how to do the simplest thing in OSX (as you yourself have admitted)would be in a position to hire anybody based on their computer skills.
